![]() ![]() Hopefully, we’ll hear more about this in the coming week, but either way this is exciting to hear and a great way to start off the new year in the video game community, Speaking of 007, IO Interactive is still working on their Project 007, in which we also hope to hear of more in the foreseeable future as well. IO is responsible for some of the best stealth action games in recent. Let's be honest: it's a match made in heaven. It’s possible that all three were able to work these issues out, as well as negotiate with Microsoft in order to get a modern port underway. Project 007 is a new James Bond game from Hitman developer IO Interactive. The former being the original publisher and proprietor of the title, the middle being the main developer who no longer works with Nintendo, and the latter being the main owner of the 007 licenses and movie franchise. One of the main reasons that Goldeneye 007 hasn’t been properly ported to today’s systems is due to licensing issues between three different parties, Nintendo, Rare, and MGM. The closest we’ve ever gotten is a reimagining of the game for the Nintendo Wii in 2010, which featured current 007 actor Daniel Craig and not the 1990’s actor Pierce Brosnan. This has left it sort of trapped on the Nintendo 64 hardware, the original system that the title came out for way back in 1997. in fact, Goldeneye 007 is perhaps the only game in their long catalog that has never received a proper port to modern systems. This leak of achievements is especially intriguing considering that the game has never been seen or featured on any of Microsoft’s home systems at all. IO Interactive’s next up with Project 007 and while its too soon to make a judgement call, I’m cautiously optimistic. An Xbox Achievement list for GoldenEye 007 has popped up /OlTia6hZal We’ve not seen any Bond games for nine years but the wait’s slowly coming to an end. Personally, only Activision’s 007: Blood Stone came close, which, perhaps fittingly, Fierstein also penned. Goldeneye: Rogue Agent went completely off the rails, while From Russia with Love was fun but an odd adaptation choice. I can’t recall how many times I replayed those missions I just wish Bond’s follow-ups did more for me.ĮA’s tenure ended on an unusual note. I’m not forgetting the driving missions either, using Need for Speed’s engine here was an inspired choice. Between deploying the Q-Spider for reconnaissance and rappelling down the side of walls, the game embraced that sillier side of Bond, something desperately lacking in recent films. I do wish EA had kept Nightfire’s multiplayer, as this game only provides a limited co-op mode, but the game’s action sequences made you feel like Bond, ridiculous gadgets and all. There’s all the makings of a 007 movie but, more importantly, Everything or Nothing didn’t scrimp where it truly counts gameplay. Well then maybe you shouldn't be living heeeeeeere. We can’t forget Mýa either, nor her high energy theme song that I still remember now. It’s a damn shame we’ll likely never see him cast in a main film but for this, he played Diavolo well. Willem Dafoe’s casting as Diavolo was particularly inspired though. Nadanova and Shannon Elizabeth’s Serena St. Judi Dench, John Cleese, and Richard Kiel returned as M, Q, and Jaws respectively, while fresh faces like Heidi Klum’s Dr. Hitman developer IO Interactive revealed in November 2020 that it's developing a new game starring the unmistakable British spy, James Bond, with the working title Project 007. While Nightfire simply used Brosnan’s likeness with a different voice actor, Everything or Nothing brought back the Irish actor one more time, marking his last ever appearance before Daniel Craig took over. It wouldn’t be a Bond film without the star-studded cast, and the game didn’t disappoint. That, and he’s trying to recreate the Soviet Union with the help of Nanobots. Linking back to A View to a Kill, we found Max Zorin’s apprentice, Nikolai Diavolo, seeking revenge on Bond for Zorin’s death. ![]() Having worked on GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World is Not Enough, Bruce Fierstein was brought back once again, penning a script fitting that era. Many fans unofficially consider for Everything or Nothing to be Brosnan’s fifth Bond film, and it’s not hard to see why. Excluding spin-offs like 007 Racing, Agent Under Fire was a middling first attempt, though Nightfire brought a considerable improvement. When EA had the Bond licence in the Pierce Brosnan era, 007 got creative. GoldenEye 007 remains the fan favourite, sure, but I’ve always preferred 007’s original experiences to direct adaptations. There hasn’t been a James Bond game that captured the superspy’s spirit as perfectly as Everything or Nothing. ![]()
